Our company has been in business since 1995 and we provide planning, architectural, and interior design and construction services to a client base throughout New Mexico and several surrounding states.
And while our firm prefers a modern, minimal, and mid-century aesthetic, our good designers can design in any style and on many types of projects. Our philosophy is simple and straightforward. Simple is a marriage between function and good design. Simple design is not Boring! Good simple design is clear and relevant and is applicable to every detail of a project.
Problem Solving
Brown+Wootton are problem solvers. Each project and client is unique and has a specific set of needs. Many solutions can solve a design problem, our responsibility is to help guide clients’ to the one that best suits their needs and desires.
Green Building and Downsizing
Reusing existing buildings whenever possible saves resources and energy. Reusing existing buildings can "save" more resources and evergy that new construction built according to green principles. Green buildings use less energy, less water, and fewer materials. Using less materials also means constructing smaller buildings. Smaller buildings require creative solutions and greater flexibility.
Our Process
Typically the design and construction process begins with a discussion of needs, desires, and budget. After these items are defined options are presented and discussed based on priorities identified by the client. This effort is based on good design skills and listening (and understanding) our client’s needs.
We use various devices to communicate our ideas and they include:
- Floor plans and elevations
- Perspective drawing and sketches
- Color boards
- Study models
- Technical drawings and details
- Energy calculations and spreadsheets
